The six-rotor PD6B-AW-ARM drone is equipped with two arms that include grasping hand-like “claws” on their ends. These claws are designed to pick up and carry things like a sort of airborne crane. The PD6B-AW-ARM was released at the Interdrone conference and is produced by the company Prodrone. With a 30 minute flight time, a press release about the drone says that it can be used “to grasp and carry differently shaped cargo using its arms; to attach or join things; to cut cables; to turn dials; to flick switches; to drop lifesaving buoys; to retrieve hazardous materials.” The search and rescue applications seem very promising, as long as the “Claw Drone” does not become self-aware and try to take over the world from us humans!
