3D Robotics has had some challenges in the last 12 months including layoffs of staff and slow sales in the consumer market. Competition for the consumer market is tough with comanies like Yuneec and DJI creating serious competition for 3DR’s Solo. Because of this, 3D Robotics is planning to focus more on the commercial drone space and is attempting to raise $45 million in investment to help them achieve this. Documents filed with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission show that 3DR has raised $26.7 million by selling shares and intends to raise an additional $18.3 million in order to meet its goal.
