Google has filed a patent for a system that would use small quadcopters to display the image of virtual conference attendees in a meeting room. For each remote meeting attendee the drone would hover at eye level with an image of that person and a camera allowing for people in the room to interact in a more natural way with them. Of course there are many challenges with this proposed method of meeting and it is not clear if Google or its parent company, Alphabet, plans to actually develop this technology. But either way, it is an interesting take on the old video conference system, which today seems unreliable and antiquated.
