A year or two ago, few people had heard of drone racing on the Hawaiian island of Oahu, but today that is different. Hawaii is a force to be reckoned with growing to 150 pilots in less than one year. Hawaii Drone Racing will send six pilots to the state championships with hopes of grabbing one or more of the 10 qualifying spots for the 2016 World Drone Racing Championships, which will take place in October on Oahu. And while the cost to build or buy and then enter a drone into a race can be significant, many young people on the islands are taking the plunge. FPV drone racing in paradise? Where do I sign up?!?
